PA join 5% club

The 5% Club members strive to achieve 5% of their workforce consisting of apprentices, sponsored students and/or graduates on formalised training schemes within five years.

"As a business PA is proud of its apprentice scheme which enables it to ‘grow’ its own talent and identify the individuals who will become the managers, machinery designers, systems engineers, sales engineers, and project engineers of the future.
Past PA apprentices have successfully taken team leader and managerial roles within the business bringing a broad range of experience that the company values and consequently the company benefits from having a continuous flow of home grown talent. PA really values our apprentices and we are delighted to join the 5% club."
Sam Ashton Commercial Director

"I began my engineering career with PA who design and manufacture packaging machinery in August 2011. My training plan combines college day release with experience in the factory. This has given me the opportunity to work in all areas of the business including design, systems, fabrication, service, machine assembly and wiring and the machine shop so that I have gained general engineering skills as well as an understanding of all aspects of the company and how different teams work together .
I am now in the third year of my apprenticeship and have so far achieved an NVQ Level 2 qualification and a BTech Certificate and have now started an HNC course.
I chose Packaging Automation because the business is passionate about apprenticeships and they were prepared to invest in my training and personal development. I have had the opportunity to work on a range of different products that PA manufacture and I have also had the chance to accompany engineers to customers’ sites to deal with faults and breakdowns.
I am constantly challenged by the work and encouraged to develop my skills as an engineer in an environment where I am supported and coached to be the best I can be."
