PA welcome local MP

Knutsford based Packaging Automation Limited, the rapidly growing designer and manufacturer of packaging machinery welcomed The Rt Hon Esther McVey, the MP for Tatton to their Parkgate Industrial Estate factory.

Esther McVey was invited to meet the directors and employees of the award winning family owned business and hear how the manufacturer has grown during the past 4 years and the important role that the company’s apprenticeship scheme has played in providing specialist engineers to support this growth. During the visit Esther spent time talking to a number of employees who have trained as apprentices several of whom have achieved engineering degrees with the support of PA.

Neil Ashton, Operations Director, PA said; “we were delighted that Esther was able to take time out of her busy schedule to learn more about the business and our apprentices past and present. We are proud to have provided an apprenticeship for more than 44 local youngsters, with 14 currently in training with us.”

Esther added ‘As the constituency MP, I was pleased to visit a long-standing local company and see their innovation as they develop machines that get shipped for use around the world. In my role of Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, it was good to meet a number of Packaging Automation’s apprentices and hear about their different routes into the business. The use of apprentices is such a fundamental part of their business and it was great to hear how focussed they were on developing that talent’

Packaging Automation has achieved rapid growth during the last four years with export sales growth playing a vital part in the company’s success. In 2017 the company achieved a key milestone when sales revenue topped £10.5 million.
