Sustaining business growth in difficult times

Updated: Aug 2, 2021

Well the results are in and it is official – despite everything that 2020 has thrown at us – we have had another year of growth in 2019-20. 10% growth in fact, which means that Packaging Automation turnover has grown year on year for the last 5 years since 2015!

Against a difficult backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are extremely proud to have remained open and fully operational throughout with the introduction of shift patterns, remote | agile working and lights out manufacturing. We are lucky that we have not had to rely on the government furlough scheme and nor have we made any redundancies. In fact, we have invested in new machinery and premises and are recruiting new team members too.

Many businesses in the food sector continue to face difficulties in particular dealing with the impact of the global pandemic, food security and staff shortages. However, the implementation of factory and pack house automation can help to reduce risk by enabling redeployment or reduction in numbers working in the factory and supports food safety.

As a result, we are certainly seeing more demand and interest in our Revolution range of high-speed fully automatic tray sealers - a reliable high-speed tray sealer reduces the need for labour on the line with users also reporting a decline in downtime from the resulting reduction in unplanned stoppages.

In fact, one of our customers, J.O Sims reported that their Overall Equipment Effectiveness / Efficiency has improved, and they have benefited from an up lift in output of around 30% from each machine since installation. This in turn reduces their cost per unit and allows them to be extremely competitive in the market and grow.

It’s really great that we continue to do well as a business whilst at the same time knowing that we are helping our customers across many sectors to improve their efficiencies and achieve a lift in output whilst at the same time reducing giveaway and downtime.

But it would be remiss of us not to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication of the Packaging Automation teams : Manufacturing | Service | Sales | Design | Projects | Accounts | IT | Purchasing | HR | Systems and R&D ……. A big thank you to you all for your contribution and here’s to the next 5 years of growth!
