Howard Taylor is our Stores Assistant, he joined #TeamPA in 1995. With 26 years under his belt, we bet he has a few tales to tell!
We started by asking Howard to tell us a little bit about his time at PA.
I started at PA in September 1995 as a Stores Assistant where I still work up to this day. It is a very busy department with varying tasks which has enabled me to develop my skills and knowledge further, especially PC skills.
I have seen a lot of people come and go in the department over the years and have worked well with them all. I have also seen a lot of changes and improvements in my time at PA which has continually helped the company move forward and expand.
What’s the best thing about working at PA?
When I started at PA, it was my first job where I earned a proper wage, this then gave me the opportunity to own my own property. From a social point of view, being a disabled person, it allowed me to have more interaction with other people on a day to day basis. I really enjoy working in stores as it keeps me busy and there is always something to do.
Who if anyone do you look up to / have learnt the most from / find the most helpful at PA?
There have been a lot of changes within the team including line management. I gained a lot of experience from my first Team Leader but more recently one of my colleagues who I have worked alongside with for a few years now was promoted to Team Leader and I have to say that I really enjoy working under his supervision.
He is very understanding and is very patient with me, he gives me a lot of support and has been integral to further developing my skills. I feel I have learnt a lot from both my first and current Team Leaders.
What’s the biggest change you have seen over the years at PA?
I feel the biggest change is how the company has grown over the years, the difference from when I first started to where we are today is remarkable and this is down to the Leadership and all team members at PA.
I would like to thank our chairman Anthony Penn for giving me the opportunity to work at PA as I wouldn’t be where I am now without him giving me a chance and secondly to all my colleagues past and present who have helped and supported me over the years, I am very grateful.
