This customer provides pets and wild animals all over the globe with a variety of tasty treats and food at competitive prices. They supply partners in the grocery, independent, and pet speciality sectors (both in the UK and abroad) with high-quality products in a variety of formats.
A long standing customer, they first contacted #TeamPA looking to increase their throughputs to meet increased demand. With an influx of orders, they wanted to improve packing speeds from the existing rate of 10/15 packs per minute.
With the support of the PA Trial Facility, #TeamPA were happy to support them to run trials on different pack formats to help find the best solutions for them.
During discussions with the packaging experts at PA, it was evident that partial vacuum was needed to reduce failure rates in the retort.
The Eclipse SL4 was the machine for the job! A fully electric automatic tray sealer combining medium speed output with quick tool changes and a compact space saving design. Incorporating POWERDRIVE technology, there is no requirement for a compressed air supply. It can be used to seal reel fed film to pre-formed trays and can be configured to use MAP-F gas flushing, full MAP-V vacuum and SkinPAC for extended shelf life.
Dependant on the tray size it can seal up to 5 packs at a time giving a maximum output of 75 packs per minute. Electric supply only is required for this machine.
The Eclipse SL4 enabled the customer to meet the increased demand and consistently pack 55/60 packs per minute. With partial vacuum the shelf life was prolonged too.
