Dorothy Wainscott - 22 years service

Dorothy Wainscott joined #TeamPA in 1999 as HR Manager, now, 22 years later we are privileged to say she is still with us and is now our HR Manager & H&S Adviser.

We asked Dorothy to tell us a little bit about her career at PA.

I joined PA as the HR Manager in 1999 to establish a dedicated HR function and develop policies and procedures for the business.

I was then asked to take on responsibility for H&S and embarked upon obtaining the necessary qualifications for the role and achieved CMIOSH status.

What is the best thing about working at PA?

The people – a good group of people to work with and the business has retained that family feel even as it has grown.

Who if anyone do you look up to / have learnt the most from / find the most helpful at PA?

When I joined PA I worked with James Bridge who helped me settle into a family business. My experience and background prior to this had been within the public sector and a large corporation so it was quite a change to say the least.

James really helped me to understand and appreciate the culture and ethos of the business, together with its customs and practises which was invaluable for me in this new role.

What is the biggest change you have seen over the years at PA?

There have been many! I guess one of the biggest changes has been the improved levels of 2-way communication with greater transparency, openness, information sharing and employee consultation which has had a positive impact on the business and #TeamPA.

We’d like to thank Dorothy for her unwavering commitment and dedication to her role, her colleagues and the business.

Dorothy, we hope you will be with us for many years to come.
