Liam’s Apprenticeship Story

Updated: Aug 2, 2021

Liam Bateson joined Packaging Automation in 2017 as a Mechanical Fitter Apprentice, this is Liam’s Apprenticeship story…

It was my dad, Stu Bateson, who also works at Packaging Automation who pointed me in the direction of PA. I had just completed two years at engineering college and was looking for the next step. I knew I wanted to continue with engineering so applied for the Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship with PA.

The great thing about an Apprenticeship at PA is that you get to rotate around the various departments which gives you a great understanding of the business overall and you get to know everyone too.

The variety of departments helps you decide where you want your career to go and where your skills lie.

I really think that Apprenticeships give you the chance to learn so much at a young age which gives you a really strong foundation at the start of your career. I would recommend them to anyone considering this route.

Now, in 2021, I am a Trainee Service Engineer visiting customer sites.
